What ControlLight Means
Whirlpool notes that the control light flashes three times if any button is pressed while the controls are locked. It is the child-lock feature telling you why nothing is responding, not a fault.
Common Causes of ControlLight
- Control Lock enabled deliberately or accidentally
- Machine in Sleep Mode with the panel dimmed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press and hold the Control Lock button for three seconds to unlock, depending on your model. If that does not work, Whirlpool notes that Sleep Mode may need disabling: press Start/Resume or Cancel, or simply open and close the door to wake the machine. Your model's manual names the exact key, which is often a shared function printed in small text under another button.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- None - this is a user setting.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
