Whirlpool Dishwasher Repair

Dishwasher Repair, Done Right the First Time

Whirlpool dishwashers are built around a few well-understood systems - fill, wash, drain, heat and door - and a machine that leaves water in the tub, refuses to start or stops drying can usually be traced to one of them with a straightforward test.

Most Whirlpool dishwasher calls fall into two families. Drainage complaints – standing water, a slow drain, a machine that stops mid-cycle – lead to the filter, the sump, the drain pump, the check valve or the household connection under the sink, and a surprising share are solved at the filter alone. Cleaning complaints lead to the wash pump, the spray arms, the diverter and the water inlet, because poor results are usually a water problem rather than a detergent one.

The rest are electrical: a door latch or switch that no longer tells the control the door is shut, a control board that has lost a relay, or a heating element that has gone open circuit so nothing dries. We isolate the machine at the breaker before opening it, test the circuit the symptom points at, and give you the price before any part is fitted.

Why Trust Us With Your Whirlpool Dishwasher

  • Measured, Not Assumed | The suspected dishwasher component is put on a meter and shown to have failed before we recommend replacing it.
  • Common dishwasher Parts On Board | The parts that fail most often travel with the technician; anything rarer is ordered on the spot and the return visit is scheduled before we leave your home.
  • Isolated Before Anything Opens | The supply to your dishwasher - power, water or gas - is shut off and proven dead before a panel comes away, and high-voltage and refrigerant circuits stay with the technician.
  • We Check Coverage First | Where your dishwasher looks like it may still sit inside manufacturer coverage, we flag it before quoting - work by anyone other than an authorized technician can put that coverage at risk.
FAQ

Dishwasher Repair FAQ

Switch the machine off at the breaker before you reach into the tub, then lift out and rinse the filter assembly and clear the sump area. A blocked filter is the most common cause by a distance. If water still stays behind after that, the drain pump, the drain hose, the check valve or the sink connection needs a proper diagnosis.

Yes. A shallow film of water in the sump keeps the seals from drying out and is meant to be there. A covered tub floor, or water above the filter, is not.

Usually spray arms that cannot turn or jets blocked with debris, a fill problem leaving too little water, or a wash pump losing pressure. Check that nothing tall is fouling the upper arm and that the jets are clear, then have the fill and pump checked.

Sometimes, but not always - leaks also come from the door gasket seating badly, a tired door balance, the vent, or a cracked sump. We find where the water is actually coming from before replacing anything, because a new seal on the wrong fault changes nothing.
