What F8E1 Means
Shown as eight flashes, a pause, then one on models without a display, this code means the dishwasher is not getting the water it expects. Whirlpool's checks are the supply valve and the fill line, and it notes that once the supply is corrected, pressing Start lets the machine fill and resume the cycle.
Common Causes of F8E1
- Dishwasher shut-off valve closed or partly closed
- Kinked fill line behind or under the machine
- Household water supply interrupted
- Blocked inlet screen at the fill valve
- Failed water inlet valve
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Look under the sink for the dishwasher's own shut-off valve and make sure it is fully open - it is often closed during other plumbing work and never reopened. Then check the braided fill line for a kink where it passes behind the machine. Run the hot tap at the sink for thirty seconds to confirm the house is supplying water and that it runs hot. Once you have corrected the supply, press Start to resume. If the valve is open, the line is straight and water flows at the tap, the fill valve inside the machine is the next suspect and that is a technician job.
