What FAE4 Means
FAE4, shown as F10E4 on some panels, appears in Whirlpool's dishwasher code list with a power-cycle remedy and no published component decode. The two displays are the same code shown differently depending on the control generation.
Common Causes of FAE4
- Control board fault
- Sensor or component reporting out of range
- Harness or connector fault
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the dishwasher off at its breaker for a minute, restore power and run a short cycle. If the code does not return, it was transient. If it does, book a diagnosis and quote both forms of the code as you saw it - some technicians will know it as FAE4 and others as F10E4 depending on which manual they work from.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Mains-live control electronics inside the door.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
