What L2 Means
L2 is the older display for the same condition as F4E4: low or no line voltage, keeping the heater from turning on. Whirlpool notes the dryer continues to run while L2 shows, and any pad clears the code from the display and returns to the estimated time remaining.
Common Causes of L2
- One leg of the supply lost or breaker tripped
- Poor connection at the outlet, plug or terminal block
- Undersized or shared circuit dropping voltage under load
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Clear the display, then check the breaker. Electric dryers are fed by two breakers tied together; if one has tripped, the drum still turns but the heat is gone. Switch both fully off, then firmly back on. If heat returns, watch whether it happens again - repeated tripping points at a real fault in the circuit or in the dryer's heating element. If nothing changes at the breaker, have the supply checked; do not attempt to measure a 240V circuit yourself.
