Whirlpool lists F7E1 as a possible problem with the motor, the control, or the associated wiring. If the drum will not turn, or turns and stops, this is the code most likely to be behind it.
Common Causes of F7E1
- Drum obstructed or seized rollers
- Failed drive motor or start circuit
- Broken or slipped drive belt
- Control board or wiring fault on the motor circuit
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch off at the breaker for a minute and restore power - that is the documented owner step. Before running it again, open the door and turn the drum by hand: it should rotate smoothly. A drum that binds, grinds or will not move at all points at something mechanical - a failed drum roller, a seized bearing or an item lodged between drum and bulkhead - and running the motor against that resistance makes matters worse. If the drum is free and the code still appears, book a technician.
