What Door Means
Whirlpool explains that if a message about the door appears in the display, the door has been closed for five minutes or more without the microwave being started. On countertop models a similar "Door" or "Open/Close" message appears when the control wants the door cycled.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the door and close it again firmly - that is usually all it takes. Check the door edge and the latch hooks for food debris, and wipe the seal face. Make sure nothing on the counter is holding the door slightly ajar. If the message persists with a clean, properly closing door, the door switches are not registering correctly, and on a microwave those switches are part of the interlock that stops it running with the door open - that is strictly a technician repair.
