What F1E1 Means
Whirlpool documents F1E1 on electric cooktops as a loss of communication between the user interface, or keypad, and the appliance manager. On induction models the same code appears with the instruction to disconnect the cooktop from the power supply, which is the reset step.
Common Causes of F1E1
- Failed touch control module
- Appliance manager or control board fault
- Connector or ribbon fault under the glass
- Moisture ingress at the control area
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the cooktop off at the breaker for five minutes, then restore power - Whirlpool's own instruction for this family is to disconnect the cooktop from the supply. Clean and dry the control area while it is off. If communication does not return, the fault is between the touch panel and the control board under the glass, and that needs a technician: the underside of a cooktop carries mains wiring and the glass is easily cracked during removal.
