What F36 Means
Whirlpool documents F36 on radiant element cooktops as a possible problem with communication between the touch control module and the electronic control. It is the older display style for the same class of fault as the F6 family.

- Moisture at the control area
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the cooktop off at the breaker for five minutes and restore power. Clean and dry the touch panel thoroughly while it is off. If F36 returns, book a technician - and note whether any zones still work, because a partial failure is useful diagnostic information. Do not attempt to access the underside of the glass.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Under-glass electronics and mains wiring; the glass cracks easily.
