What CleanLight Means
On Whirlpool dishwashers without a numeric display, a flashing Clean light is how the machine reports an error code. Whirlpool explains the scheme: the flashes come in two sets separated by a distinct pause. The first set of rapid flashes is the Function (F) number and the second set is the Error (E) number.

- Any stored fault code the dishwasher wants to report
- A cycle interrupted by a power failure
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Watch the light through at least two full repeats before deciding what it says - it is easy to miscount the first time. Count the first burst, note the pause, count the second burst. Six flashes, pause, one flash is F6E1. Eight, pause, four is F8E4. Once you have the number, look up that code. If the light flashes with no clear pattern, or the pattern changes between repeats, power the machine down for a minute and watch again from a cold start.
