What E1 Means
E1 is one of the short-form displays on Whirlpool dryers. Whirlpool publishes a reset procedure for it rather than a component decode, so it should be read as "the control has flagged a fault" rather than as a diagnosis of a specific part.

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Power the dryer down by switching off the circuit breakers for five minutes - Whirlpool specifies five for this family rather than one - then switch them back on and watch the dryer for a minute to see whether the code reappears. If it does not, run a normal cycle and carry on. If it does, note the code and book a diagnosis; there is no owner-level check for a control fault.
