What PF Means
PF means a power failure interrupted the drying cycle. Whirlpool adds a useful detail: the control can also show PF when the supply carried an unexpected amount of electrical noise that the control read as an incorrect voltage, or if keys were pressed during the ten-second delay after power is restored.
Common Causes of PF
- Household power cut or brownout mid-cycle
- Electrical noise on the supply line
- Keys pressed during the ten-second power-up delay
- Loose outlet or worn plug
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Touch and hold Start to restart the cycle, or press Power to clear the display. Wait ten seconds after any power interruption before pressing anything. If PF appears regularly without household outages, look at how the dryer is supplied: it should have its own correctly rated outlet, not an extension lead or a shared circuit, and a loose outlet can produce exactly this. Persistent PF with a sound supply is worth a diagnosis.
