What E3 Means
E3 is the third of Whirlpool's short-form dryer codes, with the same published remedy as E1 and E2: a five-minute power-down. Whirlpool does not release a component decode for it to owners.
Common Causes of E3
- Control board fault
- Wiring or connector fault
- Supply disturbance
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn off the dryer's breakers for five minutes, restore power, and watch the machine for a minute. A code that does not return was most likely a transient. A code that does return should be diagnosed rather than repeatedly reset - each reset on a genuine fault only postpones the repair.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Console and control access is mains-live technician work.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
