What F3E2 Means
Whirlpool explains F3E2 as five consecutive loads dried without the moisture sensor registering any data. Pressing Power clears it. The sensor is a pair of metal strips inside the drum that detect damp laundry touching them - if laundry never makes contact, the dryer never gets a reading.
Common Causes of F3E2
- Loads too small to contact the moisture sensor
- Timed Dry used instead of an Automatic cycle
- Dryer not level, so laundry sits away from the sensor
- Fabric softener residue coating the sensor strips
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Press Power to clear the code. Then look at how you are drying: very small loads or single items may never touch the sensor strips, so use an Automatic cycle with a reasonable load rather than Timed Dry on one shirt. Check the dryer is level with a spirit level on the top panel, adjusting the feet if it rocks, since an unlevel dryer keeps laundry away from the sensors. Finally wipe the metal sensor strips inside the drum with a cloth and a little rubbing alcohol - softener residue insulates them and produces exactly this fault.
