What F02 Means
F02 carries the same published description as F01: a possible problem with the oven temperature sensor, the control, or the associated wiring. The two codes distinguish which way the reading failed, but Whirlpool does not publish that detail for owners.

- Sensor wiring damaged by heat at the cavity pass-through
- Control board fault
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the oven cool completely first - a self-clean cycle leaves the cavity hot enough to burn for a long time after it ends. Then cut power at the breaker for five minutes and restore it; that clears a control that latched on a single bad reading. Run the oven at a moderate temperature with an oven thermometer inside to see whether it holds temperature. If the code returns, stop using the oven for cooking and book a diagnosis - the sensor is a probe inside the cavity wired back to the control, and both ends sit behind panels carrying 240 volts.
