What F8 Means
On ranges where a plain F8 appears, Whirlpool's published instruction is the same as for F3E4: verify the meat probe is securely inserted in the meat probe receptacle. It is an accessory-seating message rather than an internal fault.
Common Causes of F8
- Probe not fully seated
- Damaged probe or plug
- Residue in the receptacle
- Receptacle or wiring fault
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the probe and reinsert it firmly into its receptacle in the oven cavity until it seats fully. Inspect the plug and socket for food residue, and clean the socket when the oven is cool. If you are not using the probe, make sure nothing is partly inserted and that foil or spills have not bridged the contacts. If the code stays with a clean, empty receptacle, the socket or wiring needs a technician.
