What F0E2 Means
F0E2 means the washer detected far more suds than the cycle should produce. Whirlpool machines run an automatic suds-reduction routine when this happens, which adds time to the cycle and can leave the load wetter than usual because the machine drops to a lower spin speed. It is almost always a detergent problem rather than a broken part.
Common Causes of F0E2
- Non-HE detergent used in a high-efficiency washer
- Too much detergent for the load size or for soft water
- Detergent residue built up from repeated overdosing
- A heavily soiled load releasing extra foam
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Let the cycle finish the suds-reduction routine on its own rather than cancelling it - interrupting it leaves detergent in the load. For the next wash, use only High Efficiency (HE) detergent and measure it; Whirlpool is explicit that non-HE detergent or a heavy hand with HE detergent causes this. If your water is soft, use less than the dose on the bottle. If you have just been using too much, running a Rinse and Spin cycle on the affected load clears the residue.
