What FCRF Means
FC RF is one of the more directly useful cooktop codes: Whirlpool documents it as a possible problem with the right front hotplate - the cooking surface, burner or element - or the associated wiring. The two letters name the zone.
Common Causes of FCRF
- Failed radiant element on the right front zone
- Element wiring or terminal fault
- Control relay fault for that zone
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Stop using that zone. Switch the cooktop off at the breaker for five minutes and restore power to clear a latched code, then test the right front zone alone with a suitable pan. If it does not heat, heats erratically, or the code returns, book a technician: elements are wired directly into mains voltage beneath the glass, and a zone that switches on unpredictably is a burn and fire risk. Continue using the other zones only if they behave normally.

- Elements are mains-voltage components beneath a fragile glass top.
- A zone that energises by itself is genuinely dangerous - do not work around it.
