What F4E1 Means
Whirlpool states that F4E1 indicates there may be a problem with the heater or the heater relays. The drum may still turn while the load never dries, because the tumbling and the heating are separate circuits.
Common Causes of F4E1
- Failed heating element or heater relay
- Thermal cut-out opened due to restricted airflow
- Control board fault on the heater circuit
- Supply problem on one leg of the 240V feed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
The published owner step is a power reset: switch the dryer's breaker off for one minute, back on, and watch for a minute to see whether the code returns.
