What dLO Means
dLO appears on Whirlpool top-load washers in the lid-lock family of codes. The control cannot confirm the lid is locked, so it will not spin the basket - the lock is what allows the machine to run at spin speed safely.
Common Causes of dLO
- Obstruction in the lid lock recess
- Lid not closing fully, or striker misaligned
- Failed lid lock assembly
- Wiring fault between lock and control
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Open the lid and examine the lock recess and the striker on the lid. Remove anything sitting in it - laundry, packaging, a stray coin - and wipe any detergent residue away. Close the lid firmly and listen for the lock to cycle. If nothing happens, power the washer down at the breaker for five minutes and try once more. A lock that never engages on a clear, correctly closing lid has failed and needs replacing by a technician.
