What F0E1 Means
F0E1 (shown as rL on some front-load models) is not a fault. Whirlpool uses it to say the Clean Washer cycle was started while laundry was still inside the drum. The Clean Washer cycle runs hot with a tub cleaner and is meant to be run empty, so the control stops rather than washing clothes in it.
Common Causes of F0E1
- Laundry or a stray item left in the drum when the Clean Washer cycle started
- A towel or sock caught under the agitator or in the door seal
- Load-sensing circuit reporting weight that is not there
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Nothing needs to be dismantled here. Open the door or lid, take out everything inside - including small items stuck under the agitator or in the door boot - close it again and restart the Clean Washer cycle empty. If the drum genuinely is empty and the message keeps returning, that points at the load-sensing side of the control rather than at anything you can correct, and it is worth booking a diagnosis.
