What F0E8 Means
F0E8 means too much water was still sitting in the drum when the washer expected it to be empty. Whirlpool's own advice is to run a Drain and Spin cycle to clear it. Water that will not leave usually points at the drain path rather than at the washer itself.
Common Causes of F0E8
- Kinked, crushed or blocked drain hose
- Drain hose pushed too far into the standpipe so water siphons back
- Clogged pump filter or coin trap
- Failing drain pump
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Run a Drain and Spin cycle first and watch whether the water clears. If it does not, switch the washer off at the wall before going any further. Check that the drain hose is not kinked behind the machine, that it does not push more than about 4.5 inches into the standpipe, and that the standpipe is not blocked. On models with an accessible pump filter behind the lower panel, put a towel and a shallow tray down before opening it, since it will release trapped water. If the drum still holds water after that, stop and book a visit.
