What F3E1 Means
Whirlpool states that F3E1 means the washer cannot detect the water level, and that there may be an issue with the appliance control unit or its associated wiring. In practice the machine has lost the signal it uses to decide how full the drum is, so it will not run a cycle safely.
Common Causes of F3E1
- Water level pressure sensor or its air hose blocked, pinched or split
- Control board fault or a loose connector
- Damaged wiring between the sensor and the control
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
There is one owner-level step: cut power at the outlet or breaker for five minutes, restore it, and watch for one minute to see whether the code comes back. That clears a control that has latched on a one-off reading. Do not try to reach the pressure sensor or its hose; on a washer these sit inside the cabinet next to live wiring. If the code returns after the reset, book a diagnosis - a machine that cannot read its water level can overfill.
