What FH Means
FH (and Lo FL on some panels) is the older front-load way of saying the washer is not filling as expected - the same family of problem as F8E1 on newer controls. The machine stops rather than running a cycle without enough water.
Common Causes of FH
- Valve partly closed or a kinked hose
- Blocked inlet screens at the washer end
- Low household water pressure at the laundry point
- Flood-safe device restricting flow
- Failed inlet valve
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Close both water valves before handling hoses. Confirm both valves are fully open once you have checked, both hoses are connected - Whirlpool front-loaders expect hot and cold connected - and neither is kinked behind the machine. Unscrew the hoses at the washer with a towel underneath and inspect the small mesh inlet screens; scale and grit block them gradually, so a machine that filled fine last year can be slow now. Rinse the screens, refit, open the valves slowly and check for leaks. If the fill is still slow, household pressure or the inlet valve is the next thing to check, and the valve is internal.
